General InformationDual Enrollment (DE) allows qualified students to enroll in college courses through local and state colleges and universities while still in high school. Credit earned through DE can be used towards fulfillment of a high school graduation requirement and can also be used as college credit. Students who qualify may enroll in a college course, and the tuition and textbook cost is waived. No transportation is available. Students can only take courses after regular school hours, in addition to the courses they are enrolled in at their high school. In order to qualify for dual enrollment, students must have a 3.0 unweighted grade point average (GPA) and meet all the college/university criteria for admission. All M-DCPS senior high schools offer DE opportunities. ***Please remember once you enroll in a DE course, the grade you receive becomes a permanent part of your high school transcript. The DE grade cannot be changed or forgiven. We normally work with MDC and FIU for DE courses. If you decide to enroll in a DE course outside of Miami-Dade County you need prior approval from MDCPS. You need at least four months for pre-approval process. MAST Registration Dates for Dual Enrollment courses are: 4 weeks before the first day of the DE course student is planning to enroll in. For Fall/August DE courses, student registration must be complete before the end of the school year, as counselors are off from June 9th to the start of the next school year in mid-August. *Keep in mind the college has their own registration dates than the high school. The college dates are for college students. We implement our own deadlines as there is much more procedures involved for counselors, administrators, and registrar at the high school site. All documents must be submitted to the counselor before the deadline stated above. MAST Dual Enrollment Sign Up Steps: 1. Apply for Dual Enrollment Admissions & Activate Your Student Account 2.
